Lineated Woodpecker Back View

Lineated Woodpecker Photos

Lineated woodpeckers range from Mexico to Argentia, preferring the edges of forests and semi-open woodland. DoceLunas in Jaco Costa Rica has perfect habitat for lineated woodpeckers. We see quite a few here, visiting from their homes at the edge of the jungle along the back of the hotel property, near the yoga studio.

Keep your ears open. You might hear the knocking sound of a lineated woodpecker chipping out holes, searching for insects. The especially like to eat ants, beetles, and larvae. They also eat seeds, nuts and berries.

Here are some photos of lineated woodpeckers in Jaco Costa Rica on the grounds of hotel DoceLunas.
